– be first among equals with regard to the Elders.

    – be someone who can work collaboratively in casting vision and setting direction for the church.

    – maintain oversight of all ministries.

    – assume the role of primary expository preacher of the Word on Sundays.

    – oversee additional teachings in the church as necessary in order to equip the congregation for spiritual growth.

    – participate with the congregation in times of corporate prayer.

    – possess a commitment to personal spiritual growth, to the pursuit of holiness, and to be an example for the flock.

    – be the primary shepherd in providing care for the congregation. Such care may include visitation, counseling, and discipleship.

    – demonstrate a heart for evangelism and missions. This is accomplished by supporting local outreach and global missions efforts.

Qualifications

The applicant must:

    – meet the qualifications outlined in Scripture: 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-5

    – acknowledge agreement with the 1689 London Baptist Confession and a church structure of elder-led polity.

    – be reformed in his theology and complementarian with regard to the roles of men and women in the church.

    – affirm a Calvinist view of scripture.

    – be committed to the authority and infallibility of scripture.

    – possess strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
